Kindness is something that we say all the time but are we really kind? What does it mean to be kind to one another? The word seems self-explanatory but let's take it deeper...
To be kind is to listen, to take the time to really understand each other, to listen to one side -- their side.
To hear, to listen, to feel from their perspective.
It's not as easy as it seems
There's a slowing down that has to happen for this to be done well. Focus on the other. Listen with focus and let them know how you want to know more, want to be able to go there with them, to feel what they're feeling, to understand from their perspective.
It's not hard but it takes patience, letting go, it takes a leap of faith to let go of your own perspective for a while and live in theirs.
Live in another way of thinking just for a while. Your way will be there for you when you get back, when you let go.
On your way your perspective might shift or change altogether. You may find a new way to think about things. You may find a new way to be. Seeing different perspectives can be eye opening, can be scary, can be loving. It's always kind to be with a person and see things through their eyes.
Why not try it on for a short time?
There's a way to do it carefully and thoughtfully that doesn't tell them I agree just, I understand. I understand what you mean. I am not there yet, or I may never get there, but I understand how you are there and how you would feel the way you feel.
The whole point is that the world of humans has stopped listening to each other. They're posting, commenting, and shutting each other out. You can post for all people to come together and hear one another. It takes time, patience, and open mindedness. As you open your mind, you'll find more ways to think.
You'll understand more people. You'll feel differently.
It's important to get to a point where you can love everyone. Even those you disagree with. Take the step to allow yourself to see love in the eyes of everyone you meet.
